There may be no place like home, but a vacation at a Puerto Vallarta resort comes close.
About 250 people had the chance to bid on that and many more destination vacation homes at Austin Street Center’s third annual No Place Like Home silent auction fundraiser on Feb. 22 at TreeHouse Dallas. Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate is a proud sponsor of the event, which will help more than 200 vulnerable homeless men and women receive support through Austin Street Center’s programs and services this year.
Guests were able to bid on 25 vacation home getaways and hotel packages with stays in Acapulco, Taos, N.M., a beachside cottage in southern England and many more. Austin Street Center this year also introduced new auction categories, including home services, decor, food and wine, gifts and experiences such as Dallas International Film Festival passes and a box suite at the Texas Rangers.
Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate Agent Kimberlee Gromatzky of the Gromatzky Group, who served on the No Place Like Home host committee, also underwrote several items up for bid and even won a five-day trip to Steamboat, Colo.
The evening raised more than $86,000, a 43 percent increase over the previous year’s fundraiser, says Cynthia Olson, Austin Street Center’s director of advancement.
Through sponsorships such as Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s, Olson says, the nonprofit is able to provide direct help for more than 137 nights of shelter this year.
“Support from sponsors like Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate allow us to pay for our event expenses (which are already incredibly low), while ensuring the auction proceeds go directly to the programs and services Austin Street provides to end homelessness for as many people as possible,” Olson says.
