Approximately 3,500 people gathered this past Sunday to celebrate Highland Park’s 100th birthday at a festive block party along the town’s spectacular Lakeside Drive. The fun-filled gathering was sponsored by three local companies with deep ties to the Park Cities: The Ebby Halliday Companies, which includes Ebby Halliday, REALTORS® and Dave Perry-Miller & Associates, Allie Beth Allman & Associates, and Plains Capital Bank.
The celebration drew a multi-generational crowd who appreciate the town’s unique and lasting appeal: plentiful parks, acclaimed schools, exceptional public services, beautiful homes, and a sense of community seldom found. Entertainment spanned the ages, with a soundtrack ranging from big band to One Direction, and even an Elvis impersonator to add to the atmosphere.
Colorful streamers floated in the wind and children sketched on sidewalks with chalk, jumped in bounce houses and left handprints in concrete. Guests also enjoyed a zip line, trampolines and a rock-climbing wall.
Highland Park officials unveiled a nearly 7-foot-tall revolving chocolate birthday cake while guests sang “Happy Birthday” and enjoyed a blast of fireworks and confetti. Congratulations on 100 great years Highland Park! May the next 100 be as great!
