When making the announcement, Kelly emphasized the Ebby Halliday Companies’ distinct position in the North Texas marketplace as an organization that meets the needs of its sales associates and clients during the entirety of the real estate transaction.

“To ensure this unique distinction and ability remains at the forefront of our business strategy, we have created the role of vice president of core services,” Kelly said. “Catherine Sims possesses an intimate understanding of the strength and capabilities of our core services through her past leadership role within The Lending Partners, where she was frequently at the forefront of connecting and communicating with our sales associates and their clients how our amazing mortgage, title and insurance teams deliver an exceptional experience.”

Said Sims, “Tom Parker, president of Home Team Mortgage and The Lending Partners, and Besty Sproat, vice president, have been pivotal in my career. I am grateful for the exceptional mentoring they have provided me over the years.

“My new role will be the ‘glue’ that pulls together each of our core services,” Sims said. “This model has been very successful within the HomeServices family of companies, of which we are a proud member.” The Ebby Halliday Companies became part of HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, in 2018.

Ebby CEO, AT&T CFO conduct ‘fireside chat’ at agent awards lunch

Two C-level executives from two well-known Dallas-based brands got together Feb. 4 at the Dallas Country Club, to chat about careers, corporations, community and character.

The annual Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate Top Producer Awards Luncheon provided an ideal opportunity for Chris Kelly, president and CEO of The Ebby Halliday Companies, to visit with John J. Stevens, senior executive vice president and CFO of AT&T Inc. The audience for the talk comprised 250-plus agents and staff members eager to hear what the two respected businessmen had to say.

Prior to their chat, the group heard from Ebby Halliday CFO Ron Burgert who recapped 2018’s numbers. The DPMRE brand did just shy of $2 billion in sales volume. Burgert also cited the parent company’s renewed dedication to being a “one-stop shop” through the promotion of its core services – mortgage, title and insurance – bringing even more value to clients.

Chairman Emeritus Mary Frances Burleson also spoke about the Ebby Halliday Foundation, which continues its namesake’s legacy of philanthropy and service to the community.

Kelly and Stevens then took the stage for an informal interview, with Kelly asking the questions. He first inquired about the trajectory of Stevens’ career.

“I am here today because of constant professional development,” said Stevens. “I invested in myself but also had others invest in me. I found that successful people are quite willing to share about how they got where they are. So I listened a lot, too.”

Kelly pointed out the contributions AT&T made to the revitalization of downtown Dallas. Stevens agreed relocating the headquarters there in 2008 was bold, especially in a recession. But they had just finished two major mergers, “gone international” and needed to recruit and retain quality talent.

“Dallas is business friendly, and has two great airports,” said Stevens. “Coupled with the reasonable cost of living, infrastructure and the fact we already had seven buildings downtown, the move made sense.”

“On a personal note, it was our DPMRE agent who really helped my wife get connected after our relocation,” he added.

The two then acknowledged their companies’ shared ideals: integrity and honesty.

“No matter the market,” said Stevens, “operate with integrity every day. You can’t get it back once it’s gone.”

“So much of what John had to say was applicable to our agents and the way they conduct their daily business,” said Kelly. “It was a relevant and inspiring conversation.”

Home Services of America CEO is Industry’s Most Powerful Leader

HomeServices of America CEO is Industry’s Most Powerful Leader

HomeServices of America CEO is Industry’s Most Powerful Leader

The Swanepoel Power 200, the definitive ranking of the residential real estate industry’s 200 most powerful and influential leaders, has named HomeServices of America Chairman and CEO Ron Peltier real estate’s most powerful person in 2019. HomeServices of America has been a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary since 1999. The annual ranking was released today.

“I am extremely honored and humbled for having received this recognition,” Peltier said. “The real estate industry is filled with talented and committed individuals and I am proud to be part of this amazing group. On behalf of HomeServices, congratulations to all of the HomeServices’ leaders who differentiated themselves by their influence within the real estate industry. Their contribution to HomeServices and our collective success is an ongoing source of pride for the entire organization.”

Peltier ascends to No. 1 based on HomeServices of America’s tremendous, acquisition-fueled growth and its vast access to capital, the key driver in today’s rapidly changing residential real estate industry. With its blockbuster acquisitions of Long & Foster Real Estate, the Ebby Halliday Companies, which includes Dallas-based Ebby Halliday Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Fort Worth-based Williams Trew, and BHHS Florida Real Estate the firm’s brokerage wing’s annual sales total over $125 billion.

The ranking, compiled by T3 Sixty, considers eight criteria in ranking leaders on the list: the office leaders hold, their tenure, the size of the company they lead, its financial resources, their significance and impact on the industry, their company’s activities in the previous year, other activities outside their own company and their personal power and influence.

“With the SP200, we aim to hold a mirror up to the industry, reflecting residential real estate back to itself by noting who wields the most power and influence (and in what order), whether by position, personal power, employee count, reputation and trajectory,” said T3 Sixty Chairman and CEO Stefan Swanepoel.

Congratulations to Ron Peltier on another honor well-deserved.

Ebby Halliday Foundation Launches

Ebby Halliday Foundation Launches

Ebby Halliday Acers, founder of Ebby Halliday, REALTORS and prominent Dallas philanthropist, is being honored with a namesake foundation that will continue her substantial philanthropic work across North Texas. The Ebby Halliday Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, supports charitable and educational activities that serve women and children in need in the greater North Texas region. Ebby passed away in 2015 at age 104.

Ebby founded Ebby Halliday, REALTORS in 1945. The Dallas-based company, recently acquired by HomeServices of America, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, owns Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, which has been a member of the Ebby Halliday Family of Companies for a decade.

Having opened the doors to successful careers for thousands of people, Ebby was widely admired for her passionate leadership and tireless altruism.

“Each of us who had the good fortune of knowing Ebby was touched by the grace, fortitude and compassion with which she lived her life,” says Mary Frances Burleson, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies and a founding member of the board of directors of the Ebby Halliday Foundation. “Ebby had a very simple saying that she lived by, ‘Do something for someone every day.’ That small bit of wisdom served Ebby very, very well and has had a tremendous impact on many individuals and organizations in North Texas.”

Adds Ron Burgert, chief financial officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies and a founding member of the board of directors of the Ebby Halliday Foundation, “With the creation of the Ebby Halliday Foundation, we intend for Ebby’s impact to continue to be felt across our region for a long time.”

“For Ebby, a successful life was about much more than extraordinary sales figures,” says Kay Weeks, a sales associate with Ebby’s Little White House office. “Ebby’s other great passion was service to the community she proudly called home. Ebby’s, and our company’s, philanthropic influence on North Texas cannot be overstated. Ebby did not have children of her own, but she helped educate and support many young people.”
