The much-anticipated Lakewood Home Festival is just days away. Mark your calendar now for November 8-10, when the 37th edition of one of the North Texas’ premier home festivals showcases six distinctive residences. And to sweeten the deal, proceeds benefit Lakewood-area schools.

Dave Perry-Miller & Associates will be sponsoring the “Party of the Century,” the 37th anual Lakewood Home Festival Auction Party on November 8th at 7:30pm. Guests will arrive to the Palomar in their Black and White best and masquerade masks, to participate in what has become an annual right-of-passage for Lakewood families and supporters. Swiss Avenue Home Tour-2013


The Swiss Avenue Historic District Mother’s Day Home Tour is a weekend-long tribute to Dallas’ historic past, featuring seven of the city’s most fabulous Early 20th Century homes. New this year, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Swiss Avenue Mother’s Day Home Tour, was a special Friday night event that promises to become a standing tradition for years to come. There will also be an art fair, antique car display, a children’s play area, live entertainment, great food and a whole lot more.

This year, two of the homes on tour are celebrating their 100th Birthday, a rare occurrence in our modern and ever-evolving city. Guests can travel between homes on air-conditioned mini coaches, or amble down the avenue in horse-drawn carriages, both provided at no charge. When it’s time for a break, relax and refresh in Savage Park with freshly prepared food and beverages provided by Penne Pomodoro. On the main stage in Savage Park, there will be live entertainment performed by area talent.

A Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch is being held today in Savage Park from 11am-2pm featuring entertainment by the Matt Tolentino Band, a big-band-era orchestra specializing in music written between 1900 and 1935. A buffet style brunch, complete with hot-prep chef stations, will be prepared by the culinary artisans and Penne Pomodoro and served al fresco. Tickets are $20 per person.

Save the Date: Tour des Fleurs at the Dallas Arboretum


The race is on…Dave Perry-Miller & Associates and the Dallas Arboretum are teaming up for one of the most anticipated and popular races of the year, the 7th annual Tour des Fleurs. On September 21, 2013 the Tour des Fleurs, promises to be one on the most beautiful places to compete, casually stroll or just celebrate the fabulous fall season. The splendid running trails wrapping around White Rock Lake allows this 10K and 20K run to provide the Dallas-Fort Worth community the opportunity to compete in a stunning natural setting. The race will begin and end at the Dallas Arboretum Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn.

“We felt this was an extraordinary opportunity!  Being associated with and supporting Dallas icons like the Dallas Arboretum is essential to our company culture,” said Bud Bush, general manager of Dave Perry-Miller & Associates.

The Tour des Fleurs race is beginning to bloom.

The Tour des Fleurs Race will help jump start the beginning of the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. This new educational attraction will set the gold standard for children’s outdoor educational facilities, around the world.  The race is also being the opening act of the Dallas Arboretum’s internationally famous Autumn at the Arboretum Festival.

The Dallas Arboretum has enjoyed a long history of providing area residents a remarkable place to exercise under a canopy of fall foliage and crisp seasonal colors.  The 66 acres of natural beauty and floral displays on the southeastern shore of White Rock Lake in Dallas features a one-mile fitness trail which attracts many residents for memorizing walks.  Because of the scarcity of events in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for half-marathon and marathon runners, the 10K & 20K runs have already proved to be a staple in the fall racing calendar. Marcus Grunewald, the White Rock Marathon Race Director said, “Tour des Fleurs is one of the best races in the Metroplex and has become an annual “must-do” event on the racing circuit.”

Second Year to Reach $1 Billion-Plus in Sales

Building on a record-setting 2011, Dave Perry-Miller & Associates experienced another billion-dollar-plus year in 2012. Surpassing $1 billion in residential real estate sales early in the year, the firm was the first Dallas luxury real estate brokerage to hit this significant benchmark. Total sales for the year reached $1.3 billion. The year was a true tour de force for Dave Perry-Miller & Associates, with the company records documenting their participating in one-third of all closed transactions in the most established neighborhoods south of LBJ. Combined company statistics confirm the involvement in more than one-half of all the transactions in the Park Cities, Preston Hollow, Lakewood, East Dallas, Uptown and Oak Cliff, according to North Texas Real Estate Information Systems MLS statistics.

“Actions speak louder than words, and our goal is to quietly deliver results,” says Bud Bush, general manager of Dave Perry-Miller & Associates. “And what impressive results … We were involved in the sale of every other house in these distinguished Dallas neighborhoods.”

The numbers are remarkable, but it is the behind-the-scenes work of more than 250 dedicated professionals that is notable, Bush says. For example, The Rhodes Group with the Highland Park Office of Dave Perry-Miller & Associates sold 200 homes in 2012. “Hard work, local market knowledge plus a sincere focus on our clients – that is the mix that works for us,” says longtime Dallas Realtor Tom Rhodes, Jr. Kathy Myers and Lacy Schultz, who are based in the firm’s Park Cities Office, represented the buyer of 3830 Windsor Lane in University Park, the most-expensive home purchase in the Park Cities in 2012, according to MLS statistics.  Mark Cain of Dave Perry-Miller & Associates’ Preston Center office had his best year, closing more than $25 million in sales. “I worked tirelessly to accomplish our clients’ goals, and it has paid off for all of us,” says Cain.

According to company records, Dave Perry-Miller & Associates’ InTown office volume sales were up 64 percent in 2012 and homes listed in the Lakewood office were up 74 percent.

“2012 is great reflection on all our associates, the quality of the properties that we represent and the confidence our clients have in us,” says Scott Jackson sales associate in the firm’s Lakewood office. “Dave Perry-Miller & Associates had, and still has, a commanding 50 percent of the market in Lakewood and East Dallas.”

The day will begin at the Angelika Theater in Mockingbird Station with a continental breakfast and an architectural symposium.  The keynote speakers will be renowned Dallas architect Frank Welch, FAIA and Willis Winters, FAIA, award-winning author, historian and architect, who will discuss the development and significant architecture of Greenway Parks.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. for the breakfast and symposium.  The symposium begins at 9 a.m., and the tour starts immediately afterward.  Attendees are REQUIRED to check in at the Angelika Theater.  Reservations are required and non-refundable.

This intimate event provides a first glimpse into the six spectacular homes showcased during the Lakewood Home Festival on Friday, November 9, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

6636 Avalon Avenue – FRIDAY NIGHT ONLY
This 1927 Tudor is one of only two houses on Avalon built by noted contractor George Dolph, builder of Munger Place Church. A major renovation in 2008 preserved the character of the home while modernizing it for today. Original architectural features include metal window casements, picture molding, a Rookwood tile fireplace, and glass-front built-in cabinets. Beautiful traditional furnishings and eye-catching artwork populate the home.

6947 Coronado Avenue This 2011 modern farmhouse was designed by the architect-owner and inspired in part by his great-grandparents’ home in the New Orleans garden district. The home was designed around a traditional archetype but reveals a modern interior consisting of clean lines. The windows and many interior design elements were refurbished through a recent multi-million-dollar restoration.

The Lakewood Home Festival began in 1976 when the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA (LECPTA) staged a tour showcasing five distinctive and historic neighborhood homes as a fund-raiser to purchase playground equipment for kindergarten children. In the past five years alone, LECPTA has raised more than $750,000 for Lakewood Elementary, J.L. Long Middle School and Woodrow Wilson High School. Since 1952, LECPTA has enriched the lives of Lakewood/East Dallas neighborhood children by developing relationships among families and supporting local schools.

2nd Annual Bike-A-Thon Benefitting Ebby’s United Way Campaign


Dave Perry-Miller & Associates challenged everyone from their five Dallas offices to cycle, in the spirit of giving.

The Second Annual Dave Perry-Miller & Associates Bike-a-Thon, benefiting the Ebby Halliday United Way Campaign was held on Thursday September 13, 2012. Dave Perry-Miller & Associates challenged everyone from their five Dallas offices to cycle around White Rock Lake, in the spirit of giving.

Starting at sunrise at the Corinthian Sailing Club on White Rock Lake, the team from Dave Perry-Miller & Associates set out to ride, raising money for United Way of Metropolitan Dallas which serves all North Texas Counties. Dave Perry-Miller & Associates and all of the Ebby Halliday Companies support United Way’s exceptional work; helping people in the North Texas area take charge of their lives to make futures brighter for themselves, their children and future generations. Last year the Ebby Halliday Companies generously contributed over $112,000 to United Way.
