Brand Recognizes 2017 Top Producers

Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s rise to the top is due to the professionalism and hard work of its tireless agents — the very best Dallas has to offer. More than 100 agents were recognized on Feb. 28 at the brand’s 2017 Top Producer Awards in downtown Dallas’ Thanksgiving Tower.

Agents, sales managers and support staff from Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s five offices assembled in the Tower Club – Dallas, appropriately overlooking the heart of the city and its iconic skyline. Ebby Halliday Real Estate Chief Executive Mary Frances Burleson and Chief Financial Officer Ron Burgert recapped a successful 2017 and provided words of inspiration for the associates.

Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate joined the Ebby Halliday Family of Companies in 2007 and has experienced a steady and prosperous growth since. In 2017, the brand celebrated its 10th anniversary and its position as the No. 1 leader in overall sales in several of Dallas’ most distinguished neighborhoods.

Congratulations to each group and individual award winner for your service to Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.

Agents of Change :: Weston Pugh

The life of a real estate agent can be fun and exciting, for sure. But as with any profession, sometimes a “reality check” helps to reframe perspective and cultivate appreciation for just how good many of us really have it. Some may wait until this check comes to them; others like Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate agent Weston Pugh make it a point to go looking for their own.

For four years now, the Top Producer has been actively serving at Camp Sanguinity through Camp John Marc (CJM) in the very northern reaches of the Texas Hill Country. Camp John Marc was named for the son of Jan and Marc Myers, who died of osteogenic sarcoma in 1987, and the land in Meridian donated by them. Each CJM camp offered serves children and teens who share a common medical or physical challenge. Camp Sanguinity is just one of 11 week-long camps offered every summer, and specifically serves campers who have blood disorders and cancer.

Weston and counselor

Weston just returned from his annual week at camp, and we asked him to tell us a little bit about his takeaways and how they impact his everyday life.

DPM: How many years have you been involved with Camp Sanguinity?
WP: I just finished my 4th year as a counselor.

DPM: What is your current role with them?
WP: I am also a first-year board member. We meet the first Monday of the month to go over everything from budgets, to theme night, to how to deal with homesick campers and medical emergencies.

Weston crafts (1)

DPM: Did you have a personal connection to the organization?
WP: Fortunately, I don’t have the typical connection to camp. I was recruited by a very good friend that said I “had to go.” It was five years later when I decided it really was time. One of the best decisions I’ve made as an adult!

DPM: You spend a week of your year in the hot Texas summer sun. What makes it all worth it to you?
WP: This is that time of year that re-centers, realigns — whatever you want to call it — my life. You see these kids that are frail and bald, and they could not be more excited to be at camp getting to act like a normal kid for five days. So it really helps put my life back into perspective. And it’s evident that camp is truly powerful for these kids because we have many counselors that were once campers or siblings of campers. It holds a special place in their memories.

Weston Jenga

DPM: What are some highlights from your time at camp?
WP: Every year the staff puts on a theme night, and this year was video game characters coming to life. Those little kids like to have lost their minds! To see them get that excited about a staffer dressed up in a Mario outfit is the best. They also get to do a ropes course with a zipline at the end, and it’s so cool to see them cheer each other on. It’s like they know how important each little victory is, and the victory isn’t winning or completing a task — it’s challenging yourself to go outside of your comfort zone.

DPM: Do you have a particular story that stands out?
WP: One year toward the end of camp, we were at the pool. One of the campers was too tired to get in, so I sat next to him and asked if he wanted to play Uno with me. Over the next 45 minutes, he opened up and shared his story about his treatment and what he and his family had been through. It was amazing to listen to this 14-year-old boy talk in such a mature manner about serious life issues. He was wise beyond his years and touched everyone’s life he came into contact with.

Weston fishing (1)

DPM: What would you most like people to take away from your experience?
WP: Find a charity that speaks to you and then put yourself into it completely. Get involved… stop putting it off! No, really — you’re not that busy.

DPM: How has your work with these campers impacted the way you conduct your real estate business?
WP: It’s so much bigger than that. We all need to remember any person we are dealing with is a culmination of events in their life and not just the tired, frustrated person that is stressed about the move or sale of their home. It’s our job to reassure them — “We’ve got you!”

Thank you, Weston Pugh, for sharing your summer with these campers and with us!

Firm Celebrates 2016 Top Producers

There is no better venue to host a gathering of Dallas’ most elite, service-oriented real estate agents than Dallas’ most elite, service-oriented hotel. The Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate 2016 Top Producers Award Luncheon was held on Friday, February 18, at The Ritz-Carlton Dallas in Uptown. Sales managers, agents and support staff from all five area offices convened in the Cypress Ballroom — along with senior executives from Ebby Halliday Real Estate, Inc., and a handful of valued vendors — to toast with mimosas and dine on Teen Romaine Salad, Moroccan-spiced Grilled Chicken Breast with Sauteed Kale and Quinoa, and Citrus Twist Cheesecake.

After lunch, Ebby CFO Ron Burgert kicked off the awards portion of the event with a recap of 2016. The firm did $2.1 billion in sales volume, he announced. He also reiterated the strength of and bright future for the brand. Ebby CEO Mary Frances Burleson also congratulated agents on another remarkable year, and hinted of the presentation to come by retelling a personal Ritz-Carlton memory that has stayed with her for 15+ years.

Roberto van Geenen, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Dallas, speaks to Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate agents about memorable customer service at the 10th Annual Top Producers Awards.

Agent Sharon Quist, herself a homeowner at The Ritz-Carlton, introduced the highly anticipated guest speaker, The Ritz-Carlton Dallas General Manager Roberto van Geenen.  Mr. van Geenen entitled his talk “Memorable Customer Service” and highlighted the high standards this luxury hotel brand has in place to keep guests satisfied and loyal. He acknowledged many parallels in the way The Ritz-Carlton staff treats guests and the way Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate agents treat clients, and left his audience freshly inspired by his industry-leading insights.

Quality is a value that transcends time and one of the hallmarks that makes Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate the success it is today. Today’s luncheon to recognize our associates for their phenomenal work and achievements, is never tiring and sets the stage for a prosperous 2017.”

McKenny lists 11 homes for Gingerbread Stroll

“Decorate” your holiday social schedule with the 5th Annual Gingerbread Stroll, to be held Friday, November 18 through Thursday, December 1, at Highland Park Village. Attendees stroll among 11 Highland Park Village merchants where they can admire and silently bid on ornately decorated gingerbread houses, crafted by 11 of Dallas’ premiere pastry chefs. All proceeds from the Gingerbread Stroll will benefit Community Partners of Dallas – an organization that provides support for abused and neglected children by providing direct resources to caseworkers.

Dallas residential real estate agent Christine McKenny founded the Gingerbread Stroll in 2011, with the hopes of bringing the community together to raise funds for local children’s charities. Each year, a different charity is selected as the beneficiary of 100 percent of the proceeds, and in 2014, the Stroll raised more than $16,000 for Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Community Leader, Lynn McBee, serves as the event advisor for the Gingerbread Stroll. The Gingerbread Stroll has raised over $40,000 for area children in need, since its inception.

“The Gingerbread Stroll has become a wonderful tradition during the most wonderful time of the year,” said McKenny. “People of all ages gather with their family and friends to attend, and it’s always exciting to see how the chefs express themselves creatively. Everyone loves a gingerbread house!”

Quist reigns Ritz-Carlton with Record Sale

In real estate circles, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate agent Sharon Quist is known as “Queen of the Ritz.” With excellent reason. It all started in 2004, when she became the 5th person to reserve a unit at The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton Dallas (pre-completion), then sold another 13 units by move-in day in 2008. She has more than 140 Ritz transactions under her stylish belt today, and is the all-time leader in sales there.

As of last week, Sharon has further cemented her legendary status. A recent company announcement lauded her sale of the Ritz-Carlton Penthouse. She and Kathy H. Myers were the Listing Agents, and Sharon was on the other side of the table, too, bringing the buyer.  The 5,666 square foot full-floor unit was listed at $7,500,000. It sold for the highest price per square foot of any condo or high rise ever sold in Dallas MLS.

Of her own high-rise experiences, Quist reflects, “The camaraderie, convenience, walkability and seamless lifestyle has made me an urban living devotee. I want others to know this for themselves. That’s why this job is perfect for me!”

Sharon has been #1 in MLS sales volume for condos and high rises in all of Dallas and in Area 17 (includes Downtown, Uptown and Oak Lawn/Turtle Creek) for three years running now: 2014, 2015 and 2016 YTD. From January of this year to the end of September, she has sold almost $24 million, accounting for 3% of total market share by herself. Her contributions have also boosted Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s market share by volume in Area 17 to almost 21% — that’s double the share of either of the firm’s closest competitors.

Icing on the cake: since the company announcement was made last week, Sharon has closed a $1,800,000 unit and listed another for $4.1 million. It’s good to be queen!
