CC Allen’s Strait Lane listing Is the Epitome of Luxury

The Strait Lane Estates neighborhood of Preston Hollow is where you’ll find some of our city’s largest and most established residences. All are sited on generous parcels of land, and many are set back from the road, immersed by design in the area’s gorgeous topography. Estates east of Strait Lane and west of Inwood, have the added advantage of being along the lush Bachman Creek. 4949 Calleja Way is one such estate. CC Allen is representing the seller of this 12,234 square foot residence, which is listed at $10,000,000. It includes formal living and dining rooms, great room, family room, six bedrooms, eight full and two half bathrooms, media room, wine room, play room, finished basement, loggia, pool and more.

Tucked away on a cul-de-sac we’d venture to say you probably didn’t even know was there, the home boasts a grand entrance, giving you some idea of what’s to come.

The home’s Larry Boerder design seamlessly accommodates the gentle gradations of the heavily treed lot. The residence was built in 1999 by the incomparable Cy Barcus, and the landscaping was expertly installed by Harold Leidner — a proper tribute to the natural elements already in place.

“The home is a masterful achievement in architectural and interior design,” CC says. “Its refined and gracious ambiance makes it well-suited for sophisticated entertaining, yet it’s also warm and unpretentious, and perfect for family living.”

Moving inside, the sheer luxuriousness of the interior is almost overwhelming but quickly transitions to awe-inspiring. The finish out is extravagant, as you would expect: cross-cut travertine, marble, limestone, quarter-sawn white oak, maple, mahogany and cherry are used extensively throughout. And Becky Wiggins did justice to these foundational materials by adding impeccable choices for the interior.

Beautiful views are the hallmark of the two-story home. Each room has been thoughtfully envisioned to frame the lush outdoors through custom windows and doors. At the  far end of the foyer are arched French doors with views of the stone loggia and the wooded creek. Wide door openings on either side, framed in custom moldings, lead to the formal dining room, the great room and the drawing room.

The two-story foyer features polished marble and cross-cut travertine flooring, a circular stone stairway, custom iron balusters with gilded sunflower motif, and maple handrails and stair treads.

Built-in appliances include Viking gas stove with 8-burner cooktop and griddle, copper commercial vent, three ovens, two dishwashers, and separate SubZero refrigerator and freezer.
