The Texas Rangers pulled off a blockbuster deal this week, acquiring Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, who threw a no-hitter the last time he pitched. As excited as we are about this news as baseball fans, we’re more excited as Realtors. Hamels is going to need a place to live, and we’re here to help.

Hamels reportedly sold a five-bedroom home in Newtown Square, Pa., last year that was listed for $1.55 million. Based on that number of bedrooms and that price range, here are four houses that Hamels and his wife, Heidi, may want to see when they get to town. Bonus: All of these Preston Hollow-area properties are just minutes away from the homes of Adrian Beltre and Yu Darvish. Those long commutes to Arlington would be more bearable while carpooling, right?

11145 Lawnhaven

11145 Lawnhaven Road has a spacious patio that features two living areas, a dining area, and a fireplace. The master suite and a guest suite are downstairs, as is a study. Three bedroom suites upstairs are complemented by a playroom, a homework area, a media room, and a snack station. Justin Easterling is offering the home for $1,650,000.

9006 Rockbrook Drive is a unique custom home with an award-winning floor plan. There are 11-foot ceilings throughout the first floor, which includes a rare downstairs media room. Walls of glass in every room showcase the custom pool area. Rick Adams is offering the home for $1,500,000.

6615 Brookshire

6615 Brookshire has two bedrooms (the master and a guest suite) downstairs. There are three more bedrooms upstairs, plus a den and a bonus room that could be a fitness studio or a media room. Multiple rooms provide views of the beautifully landscaped pool. Julie Boren is offering the home for $1,225,000.

5425 Springmeadow

5425 Springmeadow Drive is marked by exquisite craftsmanship. From the French doors in the den, master, and breakfast room to the built-in shelves in the den and the dual master closets, attention to detail prevails. Debbie Sherrington is offering the home for $1,150,000.

4-Bedroom in Mockingbird Park Boasts Covered Poolside Patio With Fireplace

Imagine a wonderful Mockingbird Park address that manages to retain all the charm of its origins, yet affords any size family the room and amenities that only exquisite, state-of-the-art remodeling can deliver. The recent redesign of 5319 Livingston Avenue took the best elements of the home and improved upon them. Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s Debbie Sherrington is offering the property for $1,475,000 and will hold it open from 1 to 3 on Sunday.

Natural light infuses the living areas, including French doors on two den walls. The first set offers views of a wonderful side yard and a sunning patio with access to a bubbling rectangular pool. The second set of doors opens to what may be the home’s most fabulous feature: a stunning covered patio with a pitched, high-beamed ceiling anchored by a built-in fireplace at the rear.

A large flat-screen TV makes for fun football weekends, then folds away behind an attractive screen when not in use. This outdoor oasis is perfect for year-round entertaining or just relaxing to the sound and feel of soothing waters in your tree-shaded pool.

The generous downstairs master suite features a raised ceiling, walk-ins, and a gorgeous stand-alone bath along with a spacious, dual-head shower.

The kitchen boasts a Kenmore Pro double oven, a warming drawer, an ice maker, a wine chiller, granite counter tops, and a mosaic backsplash finished in Bisazza tiles.

Deep, beautiful crown moldings and hardwood floors provide rich accents to the warm feel throughout the house. On the second level — which can be accessed by staircases in the front as well as rear — there’s a roomy theater with a video screen and a projector, plus a full bath to boot. A Hollywood bath connects two bedrooms, while a hall bath serves the third upstairs bedroom. A living space at the center of the second level is large enough to serve as a playroom, den, or game room.

Completing the picture of this outstanding home is an oversized garage, abundant storage with a walk-in attic, and the final bonus: a cute kennel under the rear staircase!

Price Reduced on Midcentury Modern With Premier Preston Hollow Address

A fantastic opportunity to update an exquisite midcentury modern house in a gated pocket of Preston Hollow just grew more fantastic. The price of 10110 Daria Drive, which is being marketed by Debbie Sherrington, has been reduced to $975,000.

Built in 1958, this 3,164-square-foot home still bears many touches of the period throughout its spacious rooms. For example, the pristine Geneva cabinets in the kitchen feature an aquamarine finish that you rarely see anymore. This unique look, which is accented by silver backsplash tiling, may be something you’ll want to preserve.

Another vintage aspect is the terrazzo flooring in the foyer and family room. The latter room has two walls of wood panels, a fireplace wall finished in brick, and a fourth wall of windows overlooking the patio and pool. The pool area is complemented by a cabana with a half-bath and kitchenette.

The house has three bedrooms, and the oversized master suite features six closets and a dressing area. The formals are carpeted at the moment, but there are hardwood floors underneath.

But the main selling point of this home is the prestigious location. The property occupies 0.79 acres at the end of Daria Drive, which sits behind a gate. That’s because Daria Drive leads to a cul-de-sac, Daria Place, where two of the neighbors are former residents of a certain white house in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, the property directly south of 10110 Daria Drive is Dallas’ largest and most valuable. You couldn’t ask for a more secure location to build the home of your dreams.
