Ebby Halliday Elementary Starts the School Year Strong


Agents of Ebby Halliday Companies Deliver Backpacks, School Supplies for Every Student at DISD’s Ebby Halliday Elementary

The Ebby Halliday Companies is built on a foundation of generosity, extending back to the days when Ebby Halliday herself was running the iconic residential real estate brand. Now a new generation of agents have readily adopted her personal mantra, “Do Something for Someone Every Day,” and are living it out in a variety of ways.

A most recent example is the Back-to-School Backpack Drive initiated by the company’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. Agents were given school supply lists for Ebby Halliday Elementary School in southeast Dallas, and asked to provide. 

The company’s more than 30 offices quickly responded and within a week, hundreds of backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils and more, were being delivered to the school – in plenty of time for Meet the Teacher night on August 12.

CEO & President Chris Kelly was quite pleased by the effort.

“Given what we’ve asked the children in our communities to endure and overcome these past 18 months,” said Kelly, “helping get their school year off on the right note is the least we can do to contribute towards their success. I am incredibly proud of how the entirety of the Ebby Halliday Companies rallied around the challenge issued by our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council.”

Sylvia Sotelo Kidd and Pamela Young are EHC’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion officers as well as sales leaders with Ebby Halliday’s offices in Rockwall and Forney, and Southwest Dallas, respectively.

“The Council’s goal was to gather 650 backpacks and we beat that by three!” said Kidd. ”We also have additional supplies for almost 100 more students.”

“Our mission with community outreach efforts like this is twofold,” Kidd continued. “We want to encourage both internal growth among our agents, staff and executives, and growth among our own community members. We want to ensure they have the opportunity to bridge generational wealth gaps. This mindset can start as early as Kindergarten.”

Added Young, “In addition to this, committee members have already identified a few key areas in North Texas where we plan to hold educational seminars regarding credit and lending, and host other beneficial programs. The potential to own a home should be for everyone.”

Ebby Halliday Elementary opened in August 2011 as part of a 2008 DISD bond package. The two-story, environmentally-friendly school is set in a rural-like area called Rylie where manufactured homes and horses are a common sight. Just behind the school, bulldozers prepare lots for a large single-family housing development, perhaps a sign of hope for community members that owning a home can be for them, too. 

Record-Breaking Month: $1.1 Billion in Sales, 2,000 Families Served


Month-end numbers have been tallied at the Ebby Halliday Companies and results confirm the local residential real estate powerhouse, comprising  Dave Perry-Miller Real EstateEbby Halliday Realtors and Williams Trew, has again broken a 75-year sales record achieved less than a year ago. 

June 2021 is now officially the North Texas market leader’s best month ever, totaling $1.1 billion in closed sales.  

Chris Kelly, CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies, took to video email and social media to congratulate more than 2,000+ agents across North Texas on the accomplishment.

“Your previous record did not stand the test of time,” Kelly said, “as less than a year later, you broke it again. Thank you for the unparalleled service you provide to your clients, as that is what this record represents. In just 30 days, you helped almost 2,000 individuals and families. At this rate, we can anticipate year-end numbers to break even more company records.”

Travis Mathews Named VP of Operations


Travis Mathews has been named Vice President of Operations for the Ebby Halliday Companies. Chris Kelly, President and Chief Executive Officer, recently made the announcement.

“Travis joined the Ebby Halliday Companies in 2019 and has adeptly led our growth strategies through acquisitions, franchising and related expansion opportunities, as well as our IT infrastructure and commercial real estate growth, all while skillfully overseeing our consumer-facing technology and the extensive suite of technology tools available to our agents,” says Kelly. “In his new role, Travis will expand upon these functions to oversee finance and accounting, facilities, and our growing property management and Apartments by Ebby divisions.”

Says Mathews, “As Vice President of Operations for the Ebby Halliday Companies, I have the privilege of leading a dynamic team dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our agents and clients. Mathews has been in the real estate industry for 18 years, starting as an agent with Briggs Freeman Real Estate in 2004. He joined Allie Beth Allman & Associates in 2008, most recently serving as its Chief Operating Officer. In 2018, Mathews joined the Ebby Halliday Companies’ parent company, HomeServices of America, as Director of Operations, overseeing critical and innovative technology initiatives.

Ebby Halliday Companies Property Management Division on the Move


The hard-working team at Ebby’s Property Management Division has spent the past year increasing operational efficiencies, expanding its client base and creating opportunities for agents to grow their businesses. Ebby’s Property Management Division is responsible for the day-to-day management of hundreds of single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes and condominiums across North Texas. 

This week marks the one-year anniversary of Mayur Chudasama joining the Ebby Halliday Companies as director of the division and the changes he and his team have implemented have revolutionized property management at North Texas’ largest residential real estate brokerage.

“I want to thank everyone on our team and throughout the Ebby Halliday Companies for their support over the past year,” Mayur says. “It’s our honor to support the best agents in the business. Operational changes always bring their own set of challenges and I can’t express strongly enough how much we appreciate your support as we have grown our offerings and improved our services over the past year.”

Mayur says three areas of emphasis have been at the forefront since assuming his new role: operational efficiency, expansion and agent education.

Operational Efficiency

Under Mayur’s leadership, Ebby’s property-management clients are benefitting from increased efficiency through updated technology, including a new web-based platform. The division also recently launched a new website for property management. Everything from tenant applications to landlord statements can be accessed online.

Ebby’s Property Management Division is actively growing its partnerships with select third parties, adding convenience for clients and protection for landlords. Just a few examples include a utility concierge service, a pet-screening service for applicants, and an HVAC filter-delivery program.

Expansion

Within the first few months of assuming his new role, Mayur visited each Ebby Halliday Companies sales office to meet directly with agents and to highlight the division’s Property Management services. 

“I have really enjoyed getting to know our agents, whether in-person or virtually, and spending some time with them introducing and reinforcing the range of property-management services we offer,” Mayur says.

In the past year, Ebby’s Property Management Division has grown – and is actively growing – its footprint in North Texas. The division manages approximately 600 properties across the region.

Thirteen agents who focus almost exclusively on leasing and property management serve such cities as Dallas, Frisco, Plano, Arlington, Denton, Sherman and McKinney, among others. In addition to strong local and national connections, some of these professionals have also developed relationships with international clients, helping them find D-FW properties and manage those properties.

As the region grows, corporate suites and short-term leasing will present additional opportunities for future growth, Mayur says. To better serve these valued clients, Ebby’s Corporate Suites Division is now part of the Property Management Division.

Agent Education

Real estate is an ever-changing business and staying on the cutting edge is critical to a real estate professional’s success. Providing education and training is a top priority at the Ebby Halliday Companies.

Under Mayur’s leadership, Ebby’s Leasing class has been revamped. Any agent who wants to be involved in leasing is required to take the new class.

Ebby Halliday Companies Join CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion


In 2019, the Ebby Halliday Companies, which include Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, joined a growing coalition of CEOs pledging to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. President & CEO Chris Kelly is among the more than 1,000 CEOs who have come together for CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, committing himself and the Ebby Halliday Companies to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

“By signing on to this commitment, the Ebby Halliday Companies pledged to take action to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion,” Kelly says. 

The Ebby Halliday Companies also appointed longtime leaders within the company Sylvia Sotelo Kidd and Pamela Young Diversity & Inclusion Officers. Since their appointments they have worked diligently to diversify recruitment and ensure that the Ebby Halliday Companies’ offerings reach the widest and most-inclusive group of homeowners and buyers.   

Organizations joining the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge have taken a step toward effecting positive change, exchanging tangible learning opportunities, creating collaborative conversations and fostering innovation.
