These Properties Make Quite a Splash Via the Unique Designs of Their Pools

Pool design is often a reflection of the home’s architectural style or the homeowner’s personal aesthetic preferences. But sometimes the pool and backyard area have a style all of their own. Across the city, there are extravagant, interesting, and unique pools and backyard design. Some spotlight water features, others emphasize the use of creative materials, and a few incorporate characteristics you just wouldn’t expect. Here are some of our very favorite unique pool designs.

The wall-of-waterfall design in the pool area of 3005 Amherst Avenue gives the illusion that water is entering the yard from an outside source. The C-shape of the pool is chic and uncommon, while the bright blue tiling provides a nice contrast to the stacked brown rock design of the spa.

The pool design at 5054 Lakehill Court includes a beach entry, rocky waterfall, and an elegant overflow that cascades over a smooth tiled wall into a small secondary area. The design is unique, and from the patio, it gives the illusion that the water from the pool simply drops off, much like you’d expect to see with an infinity pool.

The octagonal shape of the pool at 4612 Isabella Lane is definitely different.  Fountains shooting gracefully into the pool complement the backyard’s resort-like ambiance, and with a completely separate spa area and expansive decking, there’s plenty of room for parties and entertainment.

Contemporary, chic, and built for privacy, the pool at 8217 Midway Road has a clean elegance. The privacy wall along one end of the pool features two sheer descents. The oversized spa has room for several sunbathers.

One pool is relaxing … with two, there’s cause for celebration. The ranch estate at 320 Dale Evans Drive in Italy features a double pool linked by a slide. Tropical landscaping, oversized spa, and beautiful tile accents add to the aesthetics.

You’ll find two identical horseshoe-shaped structures on opposite ends of the rectangular pool at 9925 Lakeway Court in Preston Hollow. One is a spa, and the other is a water feature. This beautifully designed backyard is surround by lush landscape, mature trees, and a greenbelt with a creek.

Most Realtors have seen their fair share of spec homes, but the house at 4013 Southwestern Boulevard stands out from the crowd. From the onyx countertops in the bathrooms and in the wet bar adjoining the study to the Visual Comfort light fixtures in polished chrome and nickel, Oxbridge Custom Homes spared no expense.

“Every agent who has been in here has said this is not the typical spec house,” said Dave Perry-Miller associate Kimberlee Gromatzky, who is marketing the property along with her daughter, Taylor Gromatzky. “They can tell that so much more money has been spent on the light fixtures and the finishes.”

Those exquisite touches are courtesy of Denise McGaha Interiors, including the soft-pewter hardwood floors and the marble tiling in the kitchen, which features a steamer on the island and phone-charging stations under the cabinets.

The house has plenty of curb appeal, yet you’d never guess from the street just how expansive it is on the inside. Besides the five bedrooms and the aforementioned study, the 6,605-square-foot house includes three living rooms, a mud room, a craft/wrapping room, a game room, and an exercise room complete with a mirrored wall.

Oxbridge owner Aaron Ipour previously specialized in Collin County. The house at 4013 Southwestern is his first foray into the Dallas luxury market, with five other University Park properties to follow.

“He entered the Park Cities in a big way,” Kim said, “and this is his statement home.”
