Lakewood Elementary is know for its high level of parent involvement, which certainly contributed to the school earning distinctions in all available categories, according to the latest report from the Texas Education Association. Advocacy from the community’s parents also means extensive campus improvements will be part of a $1.6 billion bond package that could go before DISD voters in November.

Estate’s Classic Design Brings Tuscan Charm to Shores of White Rock Lake

Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate is proud to present a rare opportunity for waterfront living at White Rock Lake. The villa at 4636 Chapel Hill Road, which The Gromatzky Group is offering for $7,495,000, was inspired by a Tuscan farmhouse village concept with handcrafted design by architect Charles Travis.

A defined entry tower and bridge over a running brook anchor the courtyard, where entry to the great Room and gallery feels much like an ancient Italian village. The central court becomes a gathering place. But this is only half the story.

Once you enter this home, you are greeted by a breathtaking view of an enchanting outdoor wonderland through a 43-foot wall of mahogany-clad, double glass doors. A carefully scaled architectural stone fireplace extends to the 23-foot ceiling and divides the living area from the dining area. Wide-plank, reclaimed pine floors add to the nurturing, warm environment. Art collectors will enjoy specialized lighting to showcase pieces.

All rooms are sensitively placed to emphasize the special relationship to the water. The kitchen, family room, and game room all open to the outdoor loggias, dining area, cooking area, and infinity pool/spa. Intricately landscaped and terraced garden retreats, cut stone steps, and walkways to the lake are among the details that create a sense of tranquility.

The kitchen — with its full complement of modern appliances, 24-foot center island that seats seven, adjacent butler’s pantry, and timber beams — opens to the family room, where a fireplace extends the length and height of the wall. The study just down the hall opens to a central courtyard.

Lakewood Elementary School Dads to Purchase Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Lakewood Elementary
Photo via Facebook

Schools across North Texas may be closed in the morning because of the wintry mix that is expected to blanket the region this evening, but students at Lakewood Elementary School are out of class today because of a carbon monoxide leak. While this is a scary situation, it demonstrates why Lakewood is such a great place to live. Instead of waiting for Dallas ISD officials to act, the school’s Dads Club plans to buy carbon monoxide detectors for each classroom and common area on campus.

Renovated Tudor in Heart of Lakewood Features Clean Contemporary Interior

6911 Pasadena 1

The four-bedroom home at 6911 Pasadena Avenue boasts an amazing Lakewood location. If you drew a triangle with the Lakewood Country Club, Lakewood Elementary School, and White Rock Lake as its three points, this home would sit right in the middle.

Bearing its original Tudor façade, the completely renovated home features clean modern lines inside and an open floor plan courtesy of architect Paul Jankowski and designer Jay Magee. Magee, who is also a Realtor in Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate’s InTown office, has the property listed for $1,279,000, and he’ll hold it open from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

As you walk in the foyer, you’ll notice how much natural light flows through the frosted-glass front door and the windows on either side of it. To the right is the study with a gorgeous arch window providing a view of the front yard. To the left is the dining room with a fireplace, hand-blocked wallpaper by Jill Malek, and even more natural light.

A serving window connects the dining room to the high-end kitchen, which features built-in Miele appliances. The pair of islands offers plenty of storage space, a wine refrigerator, and bar seating. Three large windows bathe the sink and counter in sunlight, and the opposite wall features cabinets for storing dishware.

The open floor plan allows the kitchen to flow seamlessly to the living room, where the home’s second fireplace keeps things cozy. Beyond that is a expansive porch that’s really a second living room; its ceiling fan ensures you’ll stay cool on warm summer nights. A stone path skirts the yard, leading to the detached garage.

A guest suite is located on the first floor, but the other three bedrooms are upstairs. The vaulted ceiling and ample windows create an inviting space in the treetop master bedroom. The master bathroom is a thing of beauty; the tub sits under a skylight, and the dual vanities are perched atop suspended cabinets. Thanks to the original Tudor architecture, one of the other bedrooms features a cozy space that would make the perfect reading nook.
