The charming neighborhood of Lakewood is known for its great public and private schools, historical homes, community and parent involvement plus outstanding natural amenities including White Rock Lake and the Dallas Arboretum. One of Dallas' oldest and eclectic neighborhoods, Lakewood was established in 1882, only a few decades after the city itself was founded.
Its overlapping neighbors; Hollywood Heights, the “M” Streets, Forest Hills, Historic Swiss Avenue, East Dallas and more, group themselves under the title of Lakewood. All enjoy the quiet small town feel that’s nestled east of dynamic Downtown Dallas. The area is privy to many popular restaurants and stylish shops, specifically in Lakewood Village, Mockingbird Station and Casa Linda Shopping Center.
Neighborhoods throughout Lakewood are well established and consist entirely of well-kept single-family homes. Residents are committed to maintaining its distinctive neighborhood character. From the old-timers whose families have been in the area for several generations to the newcomers who move in on a regular basis, residents of Lakewood recognize each other with one important term - neighbors.
Lakewood occupies an area in the city of Dallas bounded by Central Expressway to the west, Mockingbird Lane to the north, Loop 12 to the east and Fair Park to the south.
