Welcome to 1218 Brunner Ave in the Elmwood neighborhood of North Oak Cliff. Per Heritage Oak Cliff, Brunner Ave is named after Brunner Clarence Barnes (1917-1985), a childhood friend of John Collier Jr, the son of John Collier Sr who was an original Elmwood developer with the Jester Development Co responsible for naming and designing streets.

The multi-gabled facades and an assortment of a archways enhance the storybook aesthetic. The gables and chimney are decorated with tall arch niches.

The chimney features lovely symmetry and corbeled, stepped brickwork. Most of the windows have been replaced. The replacement windows are double pane with low UV glass.

1218 is sited along a relaxing streetscape filled with charming cottages and mature trees.

The left side porch has two front doors. The door to the left leads to the guest bedroom. The door to the right leads to the formal living room.

The steep, gabled porch on the right leads to a light-filled home office area with a private entrance adjacent to the formal living room.

Research indicates the fireplace is clad with vintage Calco antique tile. Calco (California Clay Products) tile was produced in South Gate, California between 1923 and 1932.

Although lesser known than Rookwood and Batchelder, Calco tiles are highly collectible. Public awareness and appreciation of Calco tile is increasing. Calco tiles are often associated with the Arts and Crafts movement style in California.

The primary tiles depict two birds facing each other framed within a recessed border. Glazing in the recessed areas is matte blue tile with shades of brown on the birds and edge details.

The kitchen is spacious with granite countertops, breakfast bar, both recessed and pendant lighting and stainless steel appliances.

The full view, double patio doors lead to the side yard deck.
